Algiers, Algeria – Commuters who use the Tafourah-Central Post Office metro station in Algiers should be aware of a temporary closure affecting one of its entrances.
The Algiers Metro Operating Company (EMA) announced that entrance number 02, which provides direct access to the Central Post Office, will be temporarily closed for maintenance work. The closure began today, Tuesday, and is expected to last until Friday, November 21, 2025.

The Tafourah-Central Post Office station has a total of six entrances, and the remaining five will remain open to accommodate commuters. EMA encourages passengers to utilize these alternative entrances to minimize any potential inconvenience.
“We understand that this temporary closure may cause some disruption to your travel plans,” a spokesperson for EMA stated. “We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this maintenance work may cause.”
The maintenance is part of EMA’s ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and reliability of the Algiers metro system. Regular upkeep and repairs are essential for maintaining the high standards of service that commuters expect.
Passengers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and allow extra time for navigating the station during this period. Updates on the progress of the maintenance work will be provided as needed.
