Alcaraz Withdraws from Davis Cup Finals Due to Injury

World number one Carlos Alcaraz has announced his withdrawal from the Davis Cup Finals in Bologna due to a hamstring injury. The Spanish star expressed his disappointment at having to make the decision.

Alcaraz aggravated the injury during the season-ending tournament, where he lost in the final to Italy’s Jannik Sinner on Sunday. His absence is a significant blow to the International Tennis Federation, the organizers of the competition.

“I am sad to announce that I will not be able to play with Spain in the Davis Cup in Bologna,” Alcaraz stated on his Instagram account.

This news follows the earlier withdrawal of world number two, Jannik Sinner, who announced last month that he would not be participating in the tournament, thus ruling him out for defending champion Italy.

Italy is scheduled to face Austria on Wednesday, while Spain will play against the Czech Republic on Thursday in the quarter-finals. The final match of the tournament is set to take place on Sunday.
