Earth Tremor Felt in Batna Province, Algeria

Residents of Batna province in Algeria reported feeling an earth tremor this morning, Wednesday. According to the Algerian Center for Research in Astronomy, Astrophysics and Geophysics (CRAAG), the seismic event occurred at 09:26 AM local time.

The tremor registered a magnitude of 3.0 on the Richter scale. The epicenter was located approximately 12 kilometers southwest of Ouled Salam, a municipality within Batna province.

While reports indicate the tremor was felt by residents, there have been no immediate reports of significant damage or injuries. Local authorities are likely assessing the situation to determine if any infrastructure has been affected.

Earth tremors are not uncommon in Algeria, which lies in a seismically active region. CRAAG routinely monitors seismic activity across the country and provides updates to the public. The relatively low magnitude of today’s event suggests minimal disruption, but serves as a reminder of the region’s geological characteristics.

DZWatch will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
