Mauritanian President Receives High-Level Sahrawi Delegation

Nouakchott – Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani received a high-level delegation from the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) at the Presidential Palace in Nouakchott, according to reports.

The delegation was led by Hamma Salama, President of the Sahrawi National Council and Special Envoy of the Sahrawi President.

The Mauritanian side at the meeting included Nani Ould Achrouga, the Minister in charge of the President’s Office, and Major General Seydou Samba Dia, Director General of External Security and Documentation.

The Sahrawi delegation, in addition to Hamma Salama, comprised Loudd Dafaa, member of the National Secretariat and Commander of the Third Military Region; Hamad Malou, National Director of Security, Documentation and Protection of Institutions; and Salek Bebih, Minister Advisor to the Presidency.

According to reports, Hamma Salama conveyed a message from Sahrawi President Ibrahim Ghali to President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, described as being “within the framework of continuous communication between the leaders of the two countries and their shared desire to deepen the tradition of consultation and coordination.”

Discussions during the meeting also covered developments in the Sahrawi issue and bilateral relations between the SADR and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. The meeting underscores the ongoing diplomatic engagement between the two nations.

This visit highlights the continued importance of Mauritania’s role in regional diplomacy and its relationship with the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic.
