Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Several Algerian Provinces

Algiers, November 20, 2025 – The National Meteorology Office has issued a severe weather warning for several provinces across Algeria, forecasting thunderstorms and heavy rainfall.

The alert specifically highlights the provinces of Tipaza, Algiers, Blida, Bouira, and northern Medea, where rainfall is expected to range between 30 and 40 millimeters, with the possibility of exceeding 50 millimeters in localized areas. The anticipated period of intense weather activity is slated to begin this evening, Thursday, at 6:00 PM and continue through Saturday, November 22, 2025, until 6:00 AM.

A separate warning has been issued for the provinces of Boumerdes, Tizi Ouzou, Bejaia, northern Setif, Jijel, Skikda, Annaba, and El Tarf. In these regions, rainfall amounts are predicted to be heavier, ranging from 40 to 50 millimeters, with potential peaks exceeding 70 millimeters in certain locations. This period of elevated risk is also expected to commence this evening, Thursday, at 6:00 PM and remain in effect until midday on Saturday.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety and minimize potential damage from flooding and strong winds associated with the thunderstorms. The National Meteorology Office urges the public to stay informed about weather updates and heed any instructions issued by local authorities.
