CNAS Partners with Hospitals for Pediatric Cancer Treatment

Algiers, October 21, 2025 – The National Social Insurance Fund for Salaried Workers (CNAS) has signed a partnership agreement with several public and private hospitals specializing in radiation therapy. The agreement aims to provide comprehensive care for children diagnosed with cancer.

The signing ceremony was overseen by the Minister of Labor, Employment, and Social Security, Abdelhak Saihi, and the Minister of Health, Mohamed Sadik Ait Mesdouad.

According to a statement released by the Ministry of Labor, this initiative is in direct response to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s instructions, issued during a meeting with the National Committee for the Prevention and Control of Cancer. The President emphasized the critical need to ensure complete and free medical care for children battling cancer, particularly regarding access to life-saving radiation therapy.

The Ministry affirmed that this agreement reflects the government’s strong political will to establish a social security system that effectively addresses the needs of its beneficiaries. This commitment aims to guarantee equal opportunities in healthcare, restoring hope to families grappling with the challenges of a child’s illness and supporting children engaged in a courageous fight against the disease.

Algeria is committed to a comprehensive and integrated approach to managing complex diseases. This approach includes ensuring free treatment, even in complicated and costly cases, expanding and modernizing healthcare infrastructure by establishing and equipping cancer centers with the latest technologies, and adopting modern healthcare governance.

The Ministry further stated that this approach also relies on supporting scientific research and training national expertise, which has contributed to reducing the number of cases requiring treatment abroad. The government is actively encouraging and valuing the performance of national medical professionals, creating healthcare hubs supported by the Ministry’s services.
