French Ambassador to Algeria Describes Ties Between the Two Countries as “Distinctive and Exceptional

The French ambassador to Algeria, Stéphane Romatet, described the relationship between the two countries as “distinctive and exceptional” in terms of its strength.

In a press statement following the submission of his credentials to President Tebboune on Thursday, Romatet said that “the history shared by the two countries, as well as the future that requires us to work together as French and Algerians, make the relationship strong.”

The ambassador pointed out that the relationship between Algeria and Paris is characterized by a specificity that France has not seen with other countries in the world, considering that this constitutes a motivation for “progressing together and pushing our bilateral relations towards a better future and achieving major joint projects under the framework of the New Algeria.”

He added: “We will work to establish a frank and honest dialogue between our two countries on the major challenges that affect the environment that brings us together.”

The French diplomat also confirmed that his country “will rely on a relationship based on convergence to establish a common agenda, taking advantage of Algeria’s presence in the UN Security Council, in order to strengthen dialogue on the biggest political issues.”

In the same context, he pointed out that this file was discussed with President Tebboune, who gave him a personal message from President Macron.
