San Francisco, CA – The Algerian Embassy in the United States has announced the official opening of a new Consulate General in San Francisco, scheduled for Tuesday, December 2, 2025. This initiative aims to provide direct consular services to the Algerian community residing in the Western region of the United States, streamlining their administrative processes without requiring them to contact the New York consulate.
The consulate will be located at 465 California Street, Suite 900. Its operating hours will be from Tuesday to Saturday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Pacific Time. The consulate will be closed on Sundays and Mondays. Inquiries can be directed to the email address: secretariat@cgalgeriasf.org.
The new consulate’s jurisdiction will cover 20 U.S. states, including: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, North Dakota, South Dakota, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
The embassy clarified that, starting December 2, 2025, these states will no longer be under the consular jurisdiction of the Consulate General of Algeria in New York. Direct communication with the new San Francisco consulate will be essential for all consular matters.
Sofiane Chaib, Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, emphasized that the opening of the consulate reflects the nation’s highest authorities’ commitment to bringing administrative services closer to citizens and facilitating procedures for the Algerian diaspora, wherever they may be. He participated remotely in the official ceremony organized by the new consulate, which coincided with the 71st anniversary of the outbreak of the glorious Liberation Revolution. He affirmed that these activities reflect Algeria’s commitment to maintaining national ties with its citizens abroad.
During his address, Sofiane Chaib extended his warmest congratulations to the Algerian community, noting that the anniversary of the revolution represents a timeless national milestone that evokes the heroism of the Algerian people.
