Khenchela: Woman Arrested, 20kg of Cannabis Seized

Khenchela, Algeria – Authorities in Khenchela have seized a significant quantity of cannabis and apprehended a woman in connection with drug trafficking, DZWatch has learned.

The operation, conducted by the Mobile Squad of the Judicial Police in Khenchela, resulted in the confiscation of approximately 20 kilograms of cannabis resin. According to a statement released by law enforcement officials, the seizure occurred following a targeted intervention based on credible intelligence.

During the operation, officers intercepted a passenger vehicle carrying two individuals: a man, 35, and a woman, 38. A thorough search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 180 slabs of cannabis resin, totaling around 20 kilograms. In addition to the drugs, police also recovered a sum of money in Algerian dinars, suspected to be proceeds from drug sales.

“This operation demonstrates our continued commitment to combatting drug trafficking in the region,” stated a police spokesperson. “We will continue to pursue those involved in these illegal activities and bring them to justice.”

The two individuals are now facing criminal charges. Two separate case files have been prepared and will be presented to the local prosecutor’s office for further legal action. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are exploring potential links to larger drug trafficking networks.

The successful operation underscores the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing and the dedication of law enforcement in Khenchela to maintaining public safety and security. DZWatch will continue to provide updates on this developing story.
