In a heartwarming display of solidarity, the General Union of Algerian Workers came together to express unwavering support for Palestine and to demand an end to the prolonged blockade on Gaza.

This remarkable event, reported by Anadolu, was a collaborative effort between the General Union of Algerian Workers and the Palestine Reconstruction Foundation. The gathering drew hundreds of Algerian citizens, dedicated union members, and the esteemed presence of Palestinian Ambassador to Algiers, Fayez Abu Aita.

Amar Takdjout, the head of the General Union of Algerian Workers, proudly declared their enduring commitment to the Palestinian cause. He emphasized, “Our union has stood by Palestine since our nation’s independence, and we will stand by them until the oppressive Israeli blockade on Gaza is lifted, granting every Palestinian the freedom they deserve.”

The General Union of Algerian Workers holds a special place in Algeria’s history as the oldest and largest labor union in the country, boasting an impressive membership of approximately 2.3 million dedicated individuals.

For over a decade, Gaza has endured a suffocating blockade imposed by Israel since 2006. This has led to numerous devastating conflicts, resulting in the loss of thousands of lives, the injury of tens of thousands, and the widespread destruction of homes and vital infrastructure.

Algeria’s steadfast support for Palestine shines as a beacon of hope, advocating for a brighter and more equitable future for the Palestinian people.
