Ramallah, Occupied Palestine – The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has issued a strong condemnation of the ongoing violence in the Gaza Strip, calling for immediate international intervention to halt what it describes as blatant aggression.
In a statement released today, the Ministry asserted that the actions constitute a grave violation of international humanitarian law, international norms, and existing ceasefire agreements. The Ministry specifically cited a series of incidents resulting in civilian casualties and widespread destruction of infrastructure within Gaza.
“The international community has a moral and legal obligation to protect the Palestinian people,” the statement emphasized. “We urge the United Nations Security Council and other relevant international actors to take immediate and decisive action to ensure the safety and security of civilians in Gaza and to hold those responsible for these violations accountable.”
The Ministry further criticized what it sees as a pattern of impunity enjoyed by those perpetrating violence in the region, arguing that this emboldens further acts of aggression and undermines the prospects for a just and lasting peace. It accused certain actors of deliberately obstructing efforts to de-escalate the situation and facilitate humanitarian access to Gaza.
The call for intervention comes amid rising tensions and increasing concerns over the humanitarian situation in Gaza, where essential services are already strained. The Ministry reiterated its commitment to pursuing all available legal and diplomatic avenues to ensure the protection of the Palestinian people and to achieve a comprehensive resolution to the conflict.
The situation in Gaza remains volatile, and DZWatch will continue to provide updates as they become available.
