Ukraine Engages European ‘Troika’ in Geneva Talks

A Ukrainian delegation met with representatives from France, Germany, and the United Kingdom in Switzerland to discuss proposals for ending the ongoing conflict. The meeting, held in Geneva, involved high-level security advisors from the European nations. This marks the first in a series of discussions aimed at achieving a lasting resolution.

Andriy Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine and leader of the Ukrainian delegation, confirmed the meeting via Telegram. He stated that the discussions with the ‘European Troika’ would be followed by a meeting with a delegation from the United States. “Overall, a series of meetings in various formats are planned for today. We continue to work together to achieve a sustainable and just peace for Ukraine,” Yermak stated. He expressed optimism regarding the upcoming discussions with the U.S. delegation.

Earlier in the day, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio arrived in Geneva to join the talks. The focus of the discussions reportedly includes a peace plan. It is understood that Kyiv is seeking amendments to the proposal.

Prior to the Geneva meeting, a U.S. official indicated that positive and constructive talks had taken place between American and Ukrainian officials. The ongoing diplomatic efforts underscore the international community’s continued engagement in seeking a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
