In a significant display of solidarity and cooperation, Tunisia’s Prime Minister, Ahmed Hachani, has expressed unwavering support for Algeria’s initiative aimed at resolving the crisis in Niger. This announcement underscores the deep-rooted cooperation between the two nations across various sectors.

During the opening ceremony of the Grand Joint Committee’s sessions between Algeria and Tunisia at the Algerian Conference Palace, Prime Minister Hachani praised the positive outcomes of the Tunisian-Algerian Economic Forum, held alongside the 22nd session of the Grand Joint Committee.

The 21st session of this Joint Committee took place in Tunisia on March 9, 2017, and was presided over by Tunisia’s former Prime Minister Youssef Chahed and Algeria’s former Premier Minister Abdelmalek Sellal. This session resulted in the signing of eight legal agreements and bilateral programs.

Highlighting the historical brotherly relations between the two nations, Hachani emphasized the importance of paying close attention to the Algerian and Tunisian communities at various levels.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Hachani expressed deep satisfaction with the ongoing momentum of bilateral cooperation between the two countries across multiple domains. He stressed the significance of continuous coordination and consultations among the leaders of both nations on regional and international matters, citing their shared perspectives on numerous regional and global issues.

In this context, Prime Minister Hachani reaffirmed Tunisia’s full support for Algeria’s initiative aimed at resolving the crisis in Niger. This initiative received official acceptance from the Republic of Niger through correspondence received by the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In late August, Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf unveiled an initiative designed to bring a political solution to the crisis in its southern neighbor, Niger, ultimately restoring constitutional order after a turbulent six-month period.

Algeria is actively pursuing diplomatic efforts to find a political resolution to the crisis that ensued in Niger following the removal of President Mohamed Bazoum on July 26.

During his visit, Prime Minister Hachani had the opportunity to meet with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune at the presidential palace. In a subsequent statement, the Tunisian government conveyed the warm fraternal greetings of President Kaïs Saïed to President Tebboune.

This meeting provided an invaluable platform to discuss President Tebboune’s vision and objectives for strengthening fraternal relations and cooperation between the two countries.

Ahmed Hachani arrived in Algeria with a high-level ministerial delegation, marking his first foreign visit since assuming office in early August.
