Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Algeria is eager to broaden its collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), particularly in the areas of renewable energy, industrial innovation, and value chains. This announcement was made by Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, during the opening of the 21st session of the UNIDO General Conference in Riyadh on Sunday.
Minister Arkab emphasized the growing dynamism of the existing partnership between Algeria and UNIDO. He stated that Algeria views UNIDO as a key partner in its industrial development strategy and is committed to strengthening this relationship further.
“The cooperation between Algeria and UNIDO is experiencing increasing momentum,” Minister Arkab noted. “We aspire to expand this cooperation to encompass new areas, notably renewable energies, industrial innovation, and value chains.”
The Minister highlighted Algeria’s ambition to leverage UNIDO’s expertise and resources to accelerate its industrial diversification efforts and enhance its competitiveness in the global market. He also reiterated Algeria’s commitment to sustainable industrial development, emphasizing the importance of incorporating environmental considerations into all industrial activities.
The 21st session of the UNIDO General Conference provides a platform for member states to discuss key issues related to industrial development and to forge new partnerships.
