New AADL 3 Housing Projects Tied to Education Infrastructure

Algiers – The launch of new housing projects under the AADL 3 (Agence d’Amélioration et de Développement du Logement) scheme will be strategically linked to the development of educational infrastructure, according to Minister of Housing Mohamed Tarek Belaribi.

Speaking after a meeting with the Minister of National Education, focused on evaluating the 2025-2026 academic year and preparing for the 2026-2027 school year, Minister Belaribi highlighted the significant investment in the education sector. The meeting, held at the headquarters of the National Housing Bank, underscored the government’s commitment to integrated urban planning.

Minister Belaribi emphasized the increasing trend in investments allocated to the education sector, as reflected in recent financial laws. He noted that between 2020 and 2024, 677 educational facilities were completed. This was followed by the programming of an additional 224 facilities in 2025, and a further 330 facilities earmarked in the 2026 financial law.

“These figures demonstrate a clear upward trajectory in the state’s commitment to education,” Minister Belaribi stated. “Linking AADL 3 housing projects to the development of educational facilities ensures that new residential areas are adequately equipped with schools and other essential amenities.”

The Minister further elaborated that the 557 educational facilities planned for 2025 and 2026 represent over 80% of the total number of facilities completed in the preceding five years (2020-2024). This significant increase underscores the high priority given to educational infrastructure by the Algerian authorities.

In addition to the increase in planned projects, the pace of delivery has also accelerated. Between 2020 and 2024, 620 educational facilities were delivered. In 2025 alone, 322 facilities were completed, representing over 50% of the total delivered in the previous five years. This demonstrates a tangible commitment to improving the educational landscape alongside housing development.
