Algiers, Algeria – ETUSA, the public transportation authority for the city of Algiers and its suburbs, has announced the launch of several new and extended bus routes, effective today. The changes primarily affect the El Roukhi district in the Souidania municipality, aiming to improve service and accessibility for residents.
The initiative follows directives from the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transportation, emphasizing the need to enhance public transportation services and facilitate movement for citizens across the capital.
Line 229 is a new addition, connecting El Roukhi with central Souidania. The first bus departs El Roukhi at 6:00 AM, with the last departure from central Souidania at 6:30 PM. The fare is set at 20 DZD, with buses running approximately every 30 minutes.
Another new route, Line 526, will link El Roukhi to the 2 May station (Tafourah), passing through Les Vergers and Ouled Fayet. The first bus leaves El Roukhi at 6:00 AM, and the last bus departs from 2 May station at 5:00 PM. The fare for this route is 50 DZD.
In addition to the new lines, ETUSA has also modified and extended existing routes to better serve the public. Line 03, connecting El Roukhi to Chavaillé station via Souidania and Bouchaoui, has been updated. The first departure from El Roukhi is at 6:00 AM, and the last departure from Chavaillé station is at 7:00 PM. The fare is 30 DZD.
Line 708, which connects El Roukhi to Chavaillé station via Souidania and Dounia Park, has also been adjusted. The first bus leaves at 6:00 AM, and the last departure from Chavaillé is at 6:00 PM, with a fare of 30 DZD.
ETUSA stated that these changes are a direct response to citizen feedback and are part of a broader strategy to expand the network and ensure better coverage of new and growing residential areas. The company continuously evaluates its services to meet the evolving needs of the population.
