Luanda, Angola – The presence of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) at the recent African Union-European Union summit in Luanda has effectively dismantled Moroccan propaganda efforts, according to Nana Labat Rachid, advisor to the Sahrawi Presidency. Rachid emphasized that the SADR’s participation underscores its legitimacy and standing within the African Union.
In an exclusive statement, Rachid asserted that the summit should prioritize the complete decolonization of Western Sahara, which she described as the last remaining colony in Africa. She stated, “Africa and Africans, and the 7th Summit for Cooperation and Partnership between the African Union and the European Union, are expected to complete the sovereignty of Western Sahara, as it is the last colony in Africa.”
“The Luanda summit is expected to consolidate the Sahrawi state as an irreversible reality. Our presence in the proceedings of the seventh session of the partnership is not the first of its kind, of course,” Rachid affirmed, highlighting the SADR’s consistent engagement in regional and international forums. “The presence of the Sahrawi state at the summit refutes the Moroccan propaganda based on misinformation and distortion.”
Rachid further pointed out the stark contrast between Morocco’s media narrative and the reality on the ground. “As you can see today, the Sahrawi state and the Kingdom of Morocco are present at the same table and within the African continent. Therefore, the Moroccan media propaganda is in one valley, and the facts you see today with your own eyes are in another.”
“The Sahrawi state is a founding member of the African Union, a full member, and concerned with the development of Africa and peace in it. It is also concerned with all the partnerships established by the African Union and its counterparts from unions in the world, such as the European Union,” she concluded, underscoring the SADR’s commitment to regional stability and international cooperation.
