Severe Thunderstorms Expected Across Multiple Algerian Provinces

Algiers, November 25, 2025 – Several provinces across Algeria are bracing for severe thunderstorms, according to the National Meteorological Office. The weather service has issued warnings for heavy rainfall, accompanied by hail, affecting a wide swathe of the country.

The initial alert focuses on the provinces of Chlef, Tipaza, Algiers, Blida, Medea, Boumerdes, and Bouira. These regions are expected to receive significant rainfall, potentially reaching up to 50 millimeters locally. The anticipated period of intense weather is slated to begin at 10:00 AM today and continue until 9:00 PM tomorrow, Wednesday.

A separate, more severe warning has been issued for a second group of provinces. Tizi Ouzou, Setif, Bejaia, Jijel, Skikda, Annaba, and El Tarf are under alert for extremely heavy thunderstorms, with rainfall exceeding 60 millimeters possible. This elevated risk period is forecast to commence around midday today, Tuesday, and persist until 9:00 PM on Wednesday.

Furthermore, a third set of provinces are also anticipating considerable thunderstorm activity. The provinces of Relizane, Mostaganem, Mascara, Oran, Ain Temouchent, Ain Defla, Mila, Constantine, and Guelma are expected to experience thunderstorms starting from 9:00 AM today and lasting until dawn on Wednesday.
