New Measures Introduced to Address Drug Use Among Students

The Ministry of Education has announced the implementation of new measures aimed at tackling drug use among students in educational institutions. The initiative includes the establishment of a dedicated committee responsible for detecting and addressing instances of drug abuse within schools.

Minister of Education, Mohamed Saghir Saadaoui, emphasized that the primary objective of this committee is to safeguard educational institutions and enhance collaboration between relevant sectors. He stated that the initiative focuses on creating a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.

As part of the new measures, periodic screenings may be conducted to detect early indicators of drug use. These screenings, which could involve analyses for substances or early warning signs, will be carried out with the consent of student representatives or a juvenile court judge. This approach ensures that the rights and well-being of students are protected throughout the process.

Minister Saadaoui clarified that in cases where drug use is confirmed, the student will be subject to therapeutic interventions only. There will be no legal prosecution against the student. The focus will be on providing support and rehabilitation to help them overcome their challenges.

The sectoral committee responsible for detecting drug use in educational institutions was officially installed today. This marks a significant step towards protecting students and ensuring a safe and secure school environment. The Ministry of Education is committed to working closely with schools, families, and community organizations to address this issue effectively.

This initiative represents a proactive approach to safeguarding the well-being of students and promoting a healthy and drug-free learning environment across the country. The Ministry believes that early intervention and support are crucial to preventing drug abuse and helping students reach their full potential. The government reaffirms its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all students.
