Cairo, Egypt – The interior ministers of Algeria and Egypt affirmed their commitment to bolstering security cooperation during the ninth session of the Algerian-Egyptian High Joint Committee held in Cairo today.
Mr. Said Saayoud, Algeria’s Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transportation, and his Egyptian counterpart, Mr. Mahmoud Tawfik, emphasized the critical need to strengthen collaborative efforts to combat transnational crime in all its forms. The discussions focused on enhancing information sharing, coordinating law enforcement strategies, and addressing emerging security threats facing both nations.
“This meeting underscores the deep and enduring partnership between Algeria and Egypt,” stated Minister Saayoud. “By working together, we can effectively address the challenges posed by organized crime, terrorism, and other security threats that transcend national borders.”
Minister Tawfik echoed these sentiments, highlighting the importance of a unified approach to regional security. He emphasized the shared commitment of both countries to maintaining stability and protecting their citizens.
The discussions also covered a range of other issues, including border security, counter-terrorism measures, and cooperation in civil defense. Both ministers agreed to continue working closely together to implement the decisions reached during the committee session.
