White House: Ukraine Peace Plan Requires Further Talks

Washington D.C. – The White House indicated today that ongoing discussions aimed at resolving the conflict in Ukraine have made significant progress, but critical details still require further negotiation.

Speaking earlier today, White House spokesperson Caroline Leavitt stated that while substantial advancements have been made towards a potential peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine, sensitive issues remain outstanding.

“The United States has seen tremendous progress towards a peace agreement,” Leavitt said. “There are some sensitive, but not insurmountable, details that need to be resolved and warrant further conversations between Ukraine, Russia, and the United States.”

Leavitt’s comments follow statements made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy after a phone call with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Zelenskyy indicated that Kyiv sees “many prospects” for peace and an end to the war with Russia following recent high-level talks in Geneva.

“Following the meetings in Geneva, we see many prospects that can make the path to peace real,” Zelenskyy wrote online. “There are tangible results, and we still have a lot of work ahead of us.” The White House has not elaborated on the specific details of the ongoing negotiations, emphasizing the delicate nature of the discussions. The US continues to play a mediating role in the hope of reaching a lasting and peaceful resolution to the conflict.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
