Algiers – The Workers’ Party has presented practical proposals concerning the draft law on political parties, according to Louisa Hanoune, the party’s Secretary-General.
In a statement released Tuesday, Hanoune indicated that she had discussed a range of national issues with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, including the aforementioned draft law. She emphasized that the Workers’ Party had already formulated and submitted concrete suggestions related to the legislation.
The Secretary-General highlighted the party’s commitment to contributing constructively to the ongoing political discourse and legislative processes. The proposals aim to strengthen the framework governing political parties, ensuring greater transparency, accountability, and adherence to democratic principles.
“We believe these proposals offer a viable path forward in refining the law on political parties,” Hanoune stated. “Our objective is to foster a political landscape that encourages genuine participation and strengthens the foundations of a pluralistic society.”
The Workers’ Party’s initiative comes at a crucial time as the government seeks to modernize and update various laws in line with the country’s evolving political landscape. The draft law on political parties is considered a key piece of legislation in this reform process.
President Tebboune has previously expressed his commitment to inclusive dialogue and collaboration with all political actors in shaping the nation’s future. The Workers’ Party’s submission of these proposals is seen as a positive step towards achieving that goal.
The specific details of the proposals have not yet been publicly disclosed, but it is expected that they will be made available for broader discussion and consideration in the coming weeks.
