Algeria and Egypt Strengthen Strategic Transport Partnership

Cairo, Egypt – Algeria and Egypt have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their strategic partnership, particularly in the crucial sector of transportation. This commitment was underscored during a high-level meeting held in Cairo on the sidelines of the 9th session of the Algerian-Egyptian High Joint Committee.

The Algerian delegation, led by the Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport, Said Saayoud, and the Minister of Industry, Bachir Yahia, was received by the Egyptian Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Transport and Industry, Kamel Abdel Hadi El-Wazir.

During the discussions, both parties highlighted the significant structural developments occurring within their respective transportation sectors, as well as ongoing strategic projects. They also exchanged views on mechanisms to bolster bilateral cooperation, specifically focusing on the development of land and rail transport, and the modernization of related services.

A key area of focus was the sharing of successful experiences in expanding port networks and improving port services and logistical capabilities. Both nations recognize the vital role these elements play in driving economic development.

Minister Saayoud and Minister Yahia expressed Algeria’s keen interest in leveraging Egypt’s expertise in port management and infrastructure development. Similarly, Minister El-Wazir emphasized Egypt’s commitment to supporting Algeria’s efforts to modernize its transportation infrastructure.

Both ministers expressed their readiness to foster stronger bilateral collaboration and strategic partnerships between stakeholders and institutions operating across the spectrum of the transportation sector. This collaborative approach is designed to support the developmental momentum in both Algeria and Egypt.

The meeting signals a renewed effort to deepen cooperation between the two nations, with a particular emphasis on leveraging transportation as a catalyst for economic growth and regional integration.
