Algeria Handball Team Finalizes Training for Africa Cup

Algiers, Algeria – The Algerian men’s national handball team concluded a crucial three-day training camp in Algiers on Tuesday, marking a significant step in their preparations for the upcoming African Nations Championship in 2026.

According to the Algerian Handball Federation, this training camp, held from November 22nd to 25th, was considered a pivotal moment in ensuring the team’s readiness for the continental tournament, scheduled to take place in Rwanda.

Les Verts will compete in the 27th edition of the Africa Cup, from January 21st to 31st, 2026. They have been drawn into Group A, alongside host nation Rwanda, Nigeria, and Zambia. The team is aiming to secure a strong performance to advance in the competition.

The tournament also serves as a qualifying event for the 2027 World Championship in Germany. Coach Bouchkriou’s squad has made it a clear objective to reclaim their position among the leading handball nations in Africa.

Algeria reached the final of the previous edition of the CAN, held in Cairo in 2024, where they were defeated by Egypt. The team is focused on improving and ultimately winning the title in 2026.
