Brasilia, DZWatch – Algeria and Brazil have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening economic cooperation across various sectors, following the sixth session of Algerian-Brazilian political consultations held in Brasilia on Tuesday.
The Algerian Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lounès Magramane, co-chaired the discussions with his Brazilian counterpart, Laura Da Rocha, according to a statement released by the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meeting served as a platform to review the longstanding friendly relations and cooperation between the two nations.
Discussions focused on identifying avenues to further enhance these ties and elevate them towards a stronger economic partnership. Both parties emphasized the necessity of promoting economic collaboration by leveraging existing potential across all sectors. Particular attention was given to fostering direct investment, agriculture, higher education, scientific research, industry, and maritime transport.
Furthermore, the Algerian and Brazilian representatives engaged in discussions and exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest. These included recent developments in the Middle East, with a specific focus on the situation in Gaza, the Western Sahara issue, and the Sahel region. They also addressed multilateral cooperation and the reform of United Nations institutions.
This renewed commitment underscores the desire of both Algeria and Brazil to deepen their bilateral relationship and unlock new opportunities for economic growth and development.
