Heavy Snowfall and Thunderstorms Hit 30 Algerian Provinces

Large swathes of Algeria are experiencing severe weather disturbances today, Wednesday, with heavy thunderstorms and a noticeable drop in temperatures. The adverse conditions also include significant snowfall in higher altitude regions.

The national weather service has issued warnings for ongoing thunderstorms across numerous provinces, including: Tiaret, Annaba, Skikda, Souk Ahras, Guelma, Constantine, Bejaia, Setif, Tizi Ouzou, Jijel, Mila, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Bouira, Boumerdes, Algiers, Blida, Medea, Tipaza, Ain Defla, Chlef, Relizane, Mostaganem, Tissemsilt, Djelfa, Mascara, Oran, and Ain Temouchent.

A separate warning has been issued regarding heavy snowfall in areas above 800 meters. The provinces affected by heavy snow include: Jijel, Mila, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Setif, Bejaia, Tizi Ouzou, Bouira, Medea, Blida, Ain Defla, Tissemsilt, Guelma, Constantine, and M’Sila.
