Cairo, November 26, 2025 – Algeria and Egypt have formalized several cooperation agreements, memoranda of understanding, and collaborative programs during the ninth session of the Joint Algerian-Egyptian High Committee held in Cairo. The signing ceremony was overseen by Algerian Prime Minister Sifi Gherib and his Egyptian counterpart, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.
The agreements span various sectors, signifying a strengthened bilateral relationship between the two nations. Key areas of collaboration include accreditation, housing and urban development, agriculture, education, parliamentary relations, youth, sports, culture, and archives.
Specifically, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Algerian Accreditation Body and the Egyptian National Accreditation Council. This aims to harmonize accreditation standards and facilitate mutual recognition in various sectors.
In the realm of infrastructure and development, a memorandum of understanding was inked between the Algerian and Egyptian governments focusing on housing, urban development, and city planning. This agreement is expected to facilitate the exchange of expertise and best practices in addressing housing needs and promoting sustainable urban growth.
Agricultural cooperation was bolstered by a memorandum of understanding between the National Higher School of Agronomic Engineering of Algeria and the Agricultural Research Center of Egypt. This agreement seeks to enhance agricultural research, technology transfer, and capacity building in both countries.
Educational ties were strengthened through a memorandum of understanding between Ahmed Draia University of Adrar, Algeria, and Al-Azhar University of Egypt, promoting academic exchange and research collaboration.
Furthermore, an agreement was signed between the Algerian Ministry of Relations with Parliament and the Egyptian Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Legal Affairs, and Political Communication, fostering cooperation in parliamentary practices and political engagement.
Several executive programs were also signed, including those between the Algerian and Egyptian Ministries of Youth and Sports, outlining collaborative activities in youth development and sports for the years 2026-2027. A similar program was established between the Algerian Ministry of Culture and Arts and the Egyptian Ministry of Culture for the years 2025-2028, focusing on cultural exchange and artistic collaboration. A memorandum of understanding was also established between the Algiers Opera and the Egyptian Opera House.
Finally, a memorandum of understanding on archival cooperation was signed between the General Directorate of the National Archives of Algeria and the corresponding Egyptian entity, aiming to preserve and promote national heritage through enhanced archival practices. These agreements underscore the commitment of both Algeria and Egypt to deepening their strategic partnership across a wide range of vital sectors.
