Severe Weather Alert Issued for Coastal and Eastern Algeria

Algiers – The national weather service has issued a special weather alert for several coastal and eastern provinces of Algeria, warning of significant rainfall and potential flooding. The advisory, released Wednesday, indicates an active weather system impacting the region with heavy precipitation expected to continue through Thursday evening.

The provinces of Boumerdes, Tizi Ouzou, Bouira, and Bejaia are forecast to receive considerable rainfall, with accumulations ranging between 20 and 40 millimeters. The alert for these areas went into effect Wednesday at 9:00 PM and will remain in place until Thursday at the same time.

A more intense period of rainfall is anticipated for the provinces of Jijel, Skikda, Annaba, El Tarf, and the northern parts of Setif and Mila. These regions are expected to experience rainfall totals between 30 and 50 millimeters, with the possibility of exceeding 60 millimeters in localized areas, particularly along the coast.

The warning for these specific provinces commenced at noon on Wednesday (12:00 PM) and is scheduled to last until at least 9:00 PM on Thursday. Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions and stay informed about the evolving weather conditions.
