Sudan’s national team captain, Bakheet Khamis, has declared his team, the ‘Falcons of Jediane,’ capable of being the dark horse in the upcoming Arab Cup 2025. His comments follow Sudan’s qualification for the tournament finals.
“Now that we’ve qualified at the expense of Lebanon, the road ahead is tougher. We will certainly do everything we can to deliver a high-level performance in the tournament,” Khamis stated.
He acknowledged the challenges of their group, stating, “We are in a group of death, which also includes Iraq, Bahrain, and Algeria – teams with significant stature, especially the Algerian national team.”
Khamis emphasized the importance of their match against Algeria. “The Algeria match will be a major one, and we hope for a large turnout of supporters from both teams. We promise these fans that this encounter will be a great spectacle,” he said.
“We are capable of advancing beyond the group stage, and we will focus on each match in order to qualify for the quarter-finals,” Khamis concluded. Sudan secured their place in the Arab Cup finals after a 2-1 victory over Lebanon in the qualifying play-off.
The Sudanese national team is scheduled to face Algeria on December 3rd, at 1:00 PM Algerian time, in the opening match of Group D.
