Algerian PM Launches African Pharmaceutical Production Conference

Algerian Prime Minister, Sifi Grib, inaugurated the African Ministerial Conference on Local Pharmaceutical Production and Health Technologies today at the Abdellatif Rahal International Conference Center in Algiers. The conference is being held under the high patronage of the President of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

The opening ceremony was attended by government officials, senior state representatives, representatives of various national and international institutions and organizations, members of the African diplomatic corps accredited to Algeria, as well as ministers and representatives from the pharmaceutical and health sectors from over 15 countries.

The conference, organized by the Algerian Ministries of Pharmaceutical Industry and Health in collaboration with the World Health Organization, is taking place from November 27th to 29th under the theme “Local Pharmaceutical Industry for an Integrated and Strong Africa.”

The key objective of this economic event is to strengthen African cooperation in the field of pharmaceutical and medical supplies production locally. This will be achieved through robust partnerships that guarantee the people of the continent the right to access medicines, healthcare, and development.

In addition to ministerial meetings, the event features several working sessions led by experts and stakeholders in the field, covering various relevant topics. A pharmaceutical industry exhibition will also be inaugurated later today.

The conference is expected to conclude with the Algiers Declaration, which will include recommendations aimed at achieving continental integration in the pharmaceutical industry, ultimately ensuring health sovereignty for Africa.
