Algeria and Chile Forge Stronger Ties at Political Consultations

Santiago, Chile – Algeria and Chile have reaffirmed their commitment to bolstering bilateral relations following the sixth session of political consultations held in Santiago on Thursday. The Algerian delegation was led by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lounès Magramane, who co-chaired the meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Chile, Gloria de la Fuente.

According to a statement released by the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the consultations provided an opportunity to comprehensively assess the current state of bilateral relations and explore avenues for further development across various sectors. Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening economic and trade ties to reflect the significant potential of both nations.

“These discussions were highly productive, allowing us to identify concrete steps to enhance cooperation across diverse fields,” stated Mr. Magramane during a press briefing following the meeting.

Beyond bilateral matters, the two sides engaged in a broad exchange of views on pressing regional and international issues of mutual concern. Key topics included the ongoing developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, the Western Sahara issue, and multilateral matters encompassing environmental concerns and the reform of the United Nations.

Both Algeria and Chile expressed their dedication to multilateralism and reaffirmed their commitment to working together to address global challenges. The consultations underscored the strong and enduring partnership between the two countries and paved the way for deeper collaboration in the years to come. Further meetings are planned to continue progress on the agreed-upon initiatives.
