African Parliament President Arrives in Algeria for Official Visit

Algiers, Algeria – The President of the African Parliament, Chief Fortune Charumbira, arrived in Algiers today, Thursday, accompanied by a delegation for an official visit. The visit aims to strengthen cooperation between the Algerian and African parliaments, according to a statement released by the Algerian Council of the Nation.

The Council of the Nation’s statement specified that Charumbira’s visit falls within the framework of “enhancing cooperation between the Algerian and African parliaments to achieve the objectives of the African Parliament and coordinate efforts to confront the significant challenges facing the continent.” The visit underscores Algeria’s commitment to fostering stronger ties with African institutions and addressing common issues.

During his stay, the President of the African Parliament is scheduled to participate in the “International Conference on Colonial Crimes in Africa.” This conference, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad and African Affairs, is slated to take place on November 30th and December 1st, 2025, under the high patronage of the President of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune. The conference is expected to draw significant attention to the lasting impact of colonialism on the African continent.

Rabah Baghali, Vice-President of the Council of the Nation in charge of Foreign Relations, welcomed Charumbira at Houari Boumediene International Airport.
