Criminal Network Dismantled: Human Smuggling and Drug Trafficking Ring Busted

Algiers, November 28, 2025 – A major criminal network involved in human smuggling and drug trafficking has been dismantled by the Central Service for Combating Organized Crime (SCLCO). The operation resulted in the arrest of 36 key members of the organization and the seizure of significant assets, including luxury vehicles, high-powered boats, and substantial sums of money.

According to a statement released by security services, the investigation, which spanned over six months, uncovered the intricate methods employed by the network. The investigation revealed that the criminals were concealing their illicit activities behind the facade of a luxury car rental business, using it to launder money and obscure the source of their funds.

The operation, conducted under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, led to the seizure of the following:

  • A handgun (classified as category four).
  • Four large speedboats equipped with powerful engines and maritime equipment.
  • 22 luxury vehicles and two motorcycles.
  • Approximately 30 million Algerian dinars in cash, representing proceeds from criminal activities.
  • 6,000 euros in foreign currency.
  • Three signal flares.
  • Three GPS tracking devices.

The suspects have been presented before the specialized criminal division of Sidi M’hamed court in Algiers. Authorities are continuing to investigate potential connections and further ramifications of this criminal enterprise. The successful dismantling of this network represents a significant victory in the fight against organized crime in the region.
