Snowfall Shuts Down Key Roads in Bouira and Tizi Ouzou

Several national roads in the wilayas of Bouira and Tizi Ouzou have been closed to traffic due to heavy snowfall, according to the National Gendarmerie. The closures follow recent severe weather conditions affecting the region.

Bouira Province:

The National Road 33, which connects Bouira and Tizi Ouzou, is closed at the areas of Tikjda (Asnames municipality) and Akouker (Bechloul municipality) due to significant snow accumulation. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes.

Tizi Ouzou Province:

Similarly, National Road 33, linking Tizi Ouzou and Bouira, is impassable at the Assoul area within the Ait Boumahdi municipality. The heavy snowfall has made the road unsafe for travel.

Furthermore, National Road 15, connecting Tizi Ouzou and Bouira, is closed at the Tirourda Pass (Ifrahounane municipality) also due to snow accumulation.

Other roads remain open to traffic. However, the National Gendarmerie urges all drivers to exercise extreme caution while traveling. Reduced visibility and slippery conditions are expected in the affected areas. Drivers should reduce speed and maintain a safe following distance.

Authorities are working to clear the affected roads and reopen them as soon as it is safe to do so. Updates will be provided as the situation evolves.
