Algiers – Senate President Azzouz Nasseri received Chief Fortune Charumbira, President of the Pan-African Parliament, at the Senate headquarters today, Saturday. The visit aims to strengthen parliamentary cooperation between Algeria and the African Union institutions, according to a statement released by the Senate.
The meeting underscores Algeria’s commitment to fostering stronger ties with continental bodies and promoting collaborative efforts on issues of mutual interest. Discussions focused on enhancing legislative frameworks and promoting shared values across the African continent.
President Nasseri emphasized the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in addressing challenges facing Africa, including economic development, security, and good governance. He reiterated Algeria’s support for the Pan-African Parliament’s role in promoting democracy and regional integration.
Chief Charumbira expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and acknowledged Algeria’s significant contributions to the African Union. He highlighted the importance of collaboration between national parliaments and the Pan-African Parliament in achieving the AU’s goals.
