President’s Vision Drives Landmark Conference on Colonial Crimes

Algeria is currently hosting a significant international conference focusing on the crimes of colonialism in Africa. The event, held at the Abdelatif Rahal International Conference Center in Algiers, commenced today with high-level participation from across the continent.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, underscored the pivotal role of the President of the Republic in initiating this crucial dialogue. During his opening address, Minister Attaf conveyed the President’s greetings to all attendees, emphasizing that the conference is being held under his high patronage and in close coordination with the African Union Commission.

“This initiative,” stated Minister Attaf, “stems directly from the President’s vision presented during the recent African Union Summit earlier this year.” He further noted that the President’s proposal received unanimous support and endorsement from fellow African leaders.

The conference aims to provide a platform for in-depth discussions and analysis of the lasting impact of colonial policies on African nations. It seeks to explore avenues for justice, reconciliation, and redress for the historical injustices suffered by the continent. Experts, policymakers, and representatives from various African countries are expected to contribute to the discussions, sharing insights and experiences related to the multifaceted consequences of colonialism.

The initiative highlights Algeria’s commitment to leading the charge in addressing the legacy of colonialism and fostering greater solidarity among African nations in the pursuit of a more just and equitable future. The conference is expected to produce actionable recommendations that will inform future policies and initiatives aimed at mitigating the long-term effects of colonial rule on the continent.
