Florida, USA – Negotiations between Ukrainian and American delegations aimed at finding a path towards peace in Ukraine have commenced today, according to a statement released by Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council Secretary, Rustem Umerov.
Umerov announced via Telegram that discussions between the Ukrainian delegation and their American counterparts are underway in the United States. He stated that the talks are focused on identifying the necessary steps to achieve a lasting and dignified peace for Ukraine. The dialogue, he emphasized, is being conducted based on the directives of President Zelensky and building upon progress previously made in Geneva.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed the commencement of the talks, stating that the primary objective of the Florida discussions is to chart a course that leads to a sovereign and independent Ukraine. Rubio expressed optimism that the discussions with Ukrainian officials will yield significant progress towards a resolution to the ongoing conflict with Russia.
Speaking from Hallandale Beach, Florida, Rubio added, “This isn’t solely about peace agreements. It’s about forging a path forward that safeguards Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence, and future prosperity. We anticipate making further advancements today.”
The Ukrainian delegation, led by Rustem Umerov, and the American delegation, headed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, are currently engaged in discussions centered around the US peace plan for Ukraine. The talks are expected to continue throughout the day.
