DZWatch Exclusive: The Algerian Ministry of Health has announced the opening of applications for healthcare professionals wishing to participate in the medical mission for the 2026/1447 Hajj season. This initiative is part of ongoing preparations to ensure comprehensive and effective healthcare support for Algerian pilgrims.
The Ministry calls upon all eligible health sector employees to contribute to this humanitarian mission by submitting their applications through their respective healthcare institutions, adhering to specified criteria and established procedures.
Application Requirements: Applicants must submit a written request (demande manuscrite), a certificate of employment specifying their current department, and a completed and signed information form (Fiche de renseignement). These documents are to be submitted to their healthcare institution’s administration.
Healthcare institution administrations will forward the applications to the institution’s directors and subsequently to the Wilaya Health Directorate (DSP) for screening and further processing.
Eligibility Criteria: The Ministry stipulates a minimum of five years of professional experience for specialist physicians and ten years for general practitioners, paramedics, hospital pharmacy technicians, and ambulance drivers. Applicants must also be in good health and must not have previously participated in a Hajj medical mission, in order to extend the opportunity to a wider range of healthcare professionals.
According to ministerial guidelines, each Wilaya Health Directorate will select thirteen candidates through a lottery system, based on a predetermined distribution. This includes nine specialist physician positions (one each in infectious diseases, cardiology, urology, orthopedic surgery, pulmonology, intensive care, psychiatry, internal medicine, and general surgery), one general practitioner, one general care paramedic, one hospital pharmacy technician, and one ambulance driver.
The guidelines also specify that women must represent one-third of the candidates included on the submitted lists. Wilaya Health Directorates across the country are required to submit their lists by the specified deadline.
