Algiers, Algeria – The 12th High-Level Seminar on Peace and Security in Africa – the Oran Process – commenced today at the Abdelatif Rahal International Conference Center in Algiers. The seminar brings together high-ranking officials, diplomats, and experts from across the continent to discuss pressing issues related to peace, security, and stability in Africa.
This year’s session focuses on addressing the root causes of conflict, promoting sustainable development as a means of preventing instability, and strengthening cooperation between African nations in the fight against terrorism and transnational crime. Participants will also explore strategies for enhancing the role of the African Union and regional organizations in conflict resolution and peacekeeping operations.
The Oran Process, initiated several years ago, has become a crucial platform for dialogue and collaboration on peace and security matters in Africa. It provides a space for frank and open discussions, allowing participants to share experiences, identify challenges, and develop concrete solutions to the complex security threats facing the continent.
The seminar is being attended by representatives from various African governments, the African Union Commission, regional economic communities, civil society organizations, and international partners. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad is playing a central role in facilitating the event, underscoring Algeria’s commitment to promoting peace and security throughout the African continent.
