Algeria Hosts High-Level Forum on Peace and Security in Africa

Algeria is currently hosting the 12th High-Level Seminar on Peace and Security in Africa, also known as the “Oran Process.” The event commenced today with significant participation from prominent African and international figures.

The seminar sees the attendance of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, foreign ministers from several African nations, senior officials from both the African Union and the United Nations, representatives from the African Peace and Security Council, as well as delegations from partner countries involved in the Oran Process.

During his address, Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, conveyed the greetings of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune. He emphasized the President’s keen interest in the Oran Process and his commitment to ensuring its continuity and strengthening its impact on the continent.

The sessions of this year’s seminar are being held on December 1st and 2nd at the Abdelatif Rahal International Conference Centre, in collaboration with the African Union. The Oran Process has become a crucial platform for dialogue and cooperation on peace and security challenges facing the African continent.

Discussions are expected to focus on conflict prevention, mediation, and post-conflict reconstruction, with an emphasis on African solutions to African problems. The forum also provides an opportunity for participants to share experiences and best practices in addressing the root causes of instability and promoting sustainable development.

The Algerian government has consistently championed the Oran Process as a vital mechanism for fostering peace and security across the continent, reflecting its commitment to pan-Africanism and multilateralism.
