Moscow, DZWatch – Steve Witkoff, a special envoy of U.S. President Donald Trump, is scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow tomorrow afternoon, the Kremlin announced today. The meeting aims to further discussions regarding the American plan to resolve the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
According to a statement released by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, the meeting with Witkoff is confirmed for tomorrow. Peskov indicated that the discussions will take place in the afternoon, following internal preparations within the Russian government.
“The President will also hold several private meetings today as part of the preparations for tomorrow’s Russian-American contacts,” Peskov stated.
The announcement follows a meeting held yesterday in Florida between delegations from the United States and Ukraine. Following that meeting, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio commented that the talks were productive, but emphasized that “more work needs to be done.”
Rubio affirmed that the United States understands Russia’s position and perspective regarding a settlement in Ukraine. He added that while the U.S. remains optimistic about reaching a peaceful resolution, they are also “realistic about how difficult this will be.”
The meeting between Witkoff and Putin represents a crucial step in ongoing diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation in Ukraine and find a mutually agreeable path towards peace. DZWatch will continue to provide updates as this story develops.
