Sonelgaz Acquires Electrical Industries Company in Azzazga

Tizi Ouzou – Sonelgaz, Algeria’s state-owned electricity and gas company, has acquired the Electrical Industries Company (Electro-Industrie) located in Azzazga, according to an announcement made on Monday by the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mourad Adjal, during a visit to Tizi Ouzou.

The acquisition marks a significant step for Sonelgaz in bolstering its domestic manufacturing capabilities within the energy sector. Electro-Industrie specializes in the manufacturing and marketing of distribution transformers and electric motors, crucial components for electricity distribution networks.

This strategic move is expected to enhance Sonelgaz’s ability to meet the growing demand for electrical equipment across Algeria. By integrating Electro-Industrie into its portfolio, Sonelgaz aims to reduce reliance on imports and promote local production, aligning with the government’s broader economic diversification objectives.

The acquisition will likely lead to increased investment in Electro-Industrie’s facilities, modernization of its production lines, and creation of new employment opportunities in the Azzazga region. It also positions Sonelgaz to become a more competitive player in the regional energy market.

Further details regarding the financial terms of the acquisition were not immediately disclosed. However, industry analysts view the deal as a positive development for both Sonelgaz and the Algerian economy, signaling a commitment to strengthening the country’s industrial base and achieving greater energy independence.
