National Polio Vaccination Drive Reaches Over 443,000 Children on Day One

Algiers – The first day of the national polio vaccination campaign saw the successful immunization of over 443,000 children across Algeria, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Health on Monday.

The campaign, launched nationwide, aims to protect children from the debilitating effects of poliomyelitis, a highly infectious viral disease that can cause irreversible paralysis. Health officials are working diligently to ensure that all eligible children receive the necessary doses of the vaccine.

The Ministry of Health’s statement highlighted the dedication of healthcare workers and volunteers who are participating in the immunization drive. Their efforts have been crucial in reaching a significant number of children within the first 24 hours of the campaign’s commencement.

“We are encouraged by the initial response to the national vaccination campaign,” a spokesperson for the Ministry of Health stated. “The high number of children vaccinated on the first day demonstrates the commitment of parents and guardians to safeguarding their children’s health. We urge all those who have not yet vaccinated their children to do so in the coming days.”

The campaign is expected to continue for several days, with teams deployed to various regions to ensure maximum coverage. The Ministry of Health is also working to raise awareness about the importance of vaccination and to address any concerns or misconceptions that parents may have.
