Cairo, December 1, 2025 – Algeria’s Ambassador to Egypt, Mohamed Sofiane Brahim, has reiterated Algeria’s steadfast commitment to the Palestinian cause, emphasizing that its support is unwavering and unconditional.
Speaking at an event commemorating the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, organized by the League of Arab States, Ambassador Brahim highlighted Algeria’s consistent and principled stance in support of Palestinian rights.
“Algeria’s support for Palestine is not a temporary gesture or a calculation based on political expediency,” stated Ambassador Brahim. “It is an integral part of Algeria’s identity and its founding principles of liberation and justice.”
The event, attended by Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit, representatives from Arab nations and the United Nations, as well as figures from Al-Azhar, various churches, and international humanitarian organizations, served as a platform to reaffirm solidarity with the Palestinian people.
Ambassador Brahim emphasized Algeria’s active role in defending the Palestinian cause on the international stage, particularly during its tenure as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. He noted that Algeria has consistently amplified the Arab and Islamic voice, advocating for the protection of the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights.
He further outlined Algeria’s key priorities in its advocacy for Palestine, which include:
- Protecting civilians in Gaza and calling for an end to aggression.
- Opposing settlement expansion in the West Bank and condemning violations of Palestinian land rights.
- Rejecting plans to fragment Palestinian territory and warning against attempts to isolate Gaza.
- Promoting international recognition of Palestine and advocating for its full membership in the United Nations.
- Bringing the plight of Palestinian prisoners and victims to the attention of the international community.
Ambassador Brahim concluded by reaffirming Algeria’s unwavering commitment to supporting the Palestinian people in their struggle for self-determination and a just and lasting peace.
