Algiers, December 2, 2025 – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has authorized the allocation of 2000 additional Hajj pilgrimage permits. This special allocation is specifically designated for citizens aged 70 years and older who have registered for the Hajj pilgrimage ten times or more without being selected in the regular lottery held on Saturday, November 22, 2025.
According to a statement released by the Ministry of Interior, President Tebboune’s decision reflects his “commitment to providing this particular demographic with an increased opportunity to fulfill the sacred pilgrimage of Hajj.” The President recognizes the significance of this religious duty and aims to facilitate its performance for long-awaiting senior citizens.
The Ministry of Interior further announced that a dedicated lottery for this specific group will be conducted on Saturday, December 6, 2025. The lottery will take place at the Wilaya (province) headquarters or at any suitable location chosen by local authorities. Eligible citizens, or their designated representatives, are invited to attend the lottery proceedings.
The Ministry emphasized that this lottery is exclusively for citizens who meet both the age and registration criteria outlined above. Any registration that does not fulfill these conditions will not be considered. This measure ensures that the additional permits are allocated to those for whom they are intended, based on their age and repeated attempts to participate in the Hajj pilgrimage.
The government hopes this initiative will bring joy and spiritual fulfillment to the selected pilgrims. The Hajj is a cornerstone of the Islamic faith, and this allocation aims to facilitate its performance for deserving senior citizens.
