DZWatch Exclusive: Several Algerian provinces are bracing for a period of intense weather disturbances today, Tuesday, with heavy thunderstorms and significant snowfall anticipated, accompanied by strong winds. The national meteorological services have issued specific warnings for several regions.
The province of Tamanrasset is under a special advisory for persistent heavy thunderstorms. Rainfall accumulations are expected to range between 20 and 40 millimeters, lasting until midday today. Residents are advised to exercise caution.
A separate weather alert indicates that the provinces of Djanet and Illizi will also experience locally heavy thunderstorms, with potential rainfall reaching up to 40 millimeters. These conditions are expected to persist until 9 PM this evening.
Furthermore, starting at 9 PM tonight and continuing until dawn on Wednesday, significant thunderstorms are forecast for the provinces of Chlef, Relizane, Tiaret, Mostaganem, Mascara, Oran, Sidi Bel Abbes, Ain Temouchent, and Tlemcen. The western highlands will also be affected by this weather system.
Tlemcen province, in particular, is expected to experience heavy snowfall starting from midnight until at least dawn on Wednesday. Motorists are advised to avoid unnecessary travel in affected areas.
Another warning has been issued regarding strong winds in the provinces of Ain Temouchent and Oran, commencing at 9 PM tonight and lasting until dawn tomorrow.
