Weather Alert: Snow and Heavy Rain Forecast Across Algeria

DZWatch Exclusive: The national weather service has issued a special weather alert for several provinces across Algeria, warning of significant snowfall and heavy rainfall. Residents are urged to take necessary precautions.

Heavy snowfall is expected in mountainous regions above 1300 meters, with accumulations potentially reaching 10 centimeters. This weather system is predicted to impact the following provinces: Tlemcen, Sidi Bel Abbes, Saida, Tiaret, Tissemsilt, Naama, El Bayadh, Laghouat, and Djelfa. In certain areas, snow depths could exceed 15 centimeters. The snowfall is expected to begin midday and continue until 11:00 PM.

In addition to snowfall, the weather service has also cautioned about heavy rainfall, accompanied by hail, in other regions. Rainfall amounts could reach up to 30 millimeters between 2:00 PM and 11:00 PM in El Bayadh, Laghouat, Ghardaia, Djelfa and Ouled Djellal.

Furthermore, other areas are bracing for even heavier rainfall, potentially reaching 40 millimeters, also accompanied by hail. This intense weather is expected to begin around 5:00 PM and continue until 3:00 AM on Thursday. The affected provinces include: Touggourt, El Oued, El M’Ghair, Biskra, Batna, Khenchela, Tebessa, Oum El Bouaghi, Souk Ahras, and Guelma.
