Algiers – China’s Ambassador to Algeria, Mr. Dong Guangli, stated Wednesday in Algiers that 2026 will mark a pivotal moment in Algerian-Chinese cooperation. He highlighted the convergence of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan and Algeria’s ongoing efforts to build a ‘New Algeria’ as catalysts for enhanced collaboration.
Speaking at a press briefing, Ambassador Dong emphasized the significant opportunities arising from the alignment of these two ambitious national strategies. He suggested that the 15th Five-Year Plan, set to commence in 2026, will prioritize key sectors where Algeria and China can forge stronger partnerships. These sectors include infrastructure development, renewable energy, technological innovation, and agricultural modernization.
“The ‘New Algeria’ initiative, with its focus on economic diversification and sustainable development, presents a fertile ground for Chinese investment and expertise,” Ambassador Dong noted. He further explained that Chinese companies are eager to participate in Algeria’s development projects, bringing with them advanced technologies and proven experience in various fields.
The ambassador also underscored the importance of people-to-people exchanges and cultural understanding in fostering stronger bilateral ties. He mentioned ongoing programs aimed at promoting student mobility, academic collaboration, and tourism between the two countries. These initiatives, he said, are essential for building a solid foundation for long-term cooperation.
