Former U.S. President Donald Trump unleashed a flurry of activity on his social media platform, Truth Social, on Monday night. Over a continuous five-hour period, from 7 PM to midnight, Trump posted over 160 messages, sparking considerable discussion and debate.
The surge in activity, while significant, was noted to be not the largest single outburst in his history of online engagement. However, the content and intensity of the posts drew particular attention.
The posts included a mix of content, ranging from promotional material urging users to “Defend the Homeland” and recruitment drives for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), to political attacks aimed at his Democratic rivals. The frequency and variety of the messages underscored Trump’s continued engagement with his base and his ongoing presence in the political landscape.
Controversially, the stream of posts also included the sharing of interviews and clips featuring figures from the far-right. Some of this content promoted unsubstantiated conspiracy theories, including claims about former First Lady Michelle Obama’s alleged involvement in issuing pardons using a so-called “autopen” under President Joe Biden. No evidence was provided to support these claims.
Trump also shared a Fox News interview with former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, in which she alleged to possess over 100 documents proving that former President Barack Obama ordered the creation of a new intelligence assessment regarding alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election. These claims have been widely disputed.
The posts also included repeated attacks on California Governor Gavin Newsom, a leading Democratic contender for the 2028 presidential election. In one post, Trump questioned whether Representative Ilhan Omar should be deported. Additionally, he dedicated a significant number of posts to criticizing immigrants, particularly the Somali community.
The intense burst of activity on Truth Social highlights Trump’s continued reliance on social media to communicate directly with his supporters and shape the narrative surrounding key political issues. The posts, characterized by a mix of campaign messaging, political attacks, and controversial claims, are likely to fuel further debate and scrutiny in the days and weeks to come. This level of engagement underscores Trump’s enduring influence within the Republican party and his ongoing role in shaping the national conversation.
