Doha, Qatar – Algeria has reiterated its unwavering commitment to social justice and comprehensive development on the global stage. Minister of Labor, Employment, and Social Security, Abdelhak Saihi, addressed the Second World Social Development Summit in Doha, Qatar, from November 3rd to 7th, 2025, representing President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
During his address, Minister Saihi highlighted Algeria’s experience in promoting inclusive social development. He emphasized the nation’s focus on national policies rooted in social justice, the protection of vulnerable populations, and the empowerment of youth and women. He further detailed the expansion of social protection programs to encompass diverse segments of society, aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
The Minister elaborated on structural reforms implemented to improve living standards, combat poverty, and enhance purchasing power. These reforms include the universalization of health coverage, expansion of housing and solidarity programs, development of marginalized areas, and the economic and social empowerment of women. He also underscored Algeria’s commitment to protecting children and the elderly.
Furthermore, Minister Saihi highlighted Algeria’s efforts to bolster employment and entrepreneurship, support start-up enterprises, and embrace digital transformation and artificial intelligence as cornerstones for building a diversified and sustainable economy.
It is noteworthy that the Speaker of the Council of the Nation, Azzouz Nasseri, is scheduled to deliver a significant address on behalf of the President, representing him at the summit’s opening session.
Minister Saihi is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from allied nations on the sidelines of the summit in Doha.
Algeria’s participation in this summit underscores its steadfast adherence to the values of peace, solidarity, and respect for human rights, as well as its readiness to continue contributing to international efforts aimed at achieving more equitable and humane development.
